Recorded in 1968, the year Czechoslovakia was invaded by the Soviet Union and began twenty-three years of occupation and repression. Includes a a moving documentary of how the Jewish conductor endured the Nazi concentration camps at Terezin and Auschwitz during World War II and anti-semitism during his career along with his triumphs as an artist as music director of the Czech Philharmonic and Toronto Symphony and guest conductor in Europe and North America.
